1) Leander Paes, Martina Hingis won mixed doubles title at Wimbledon 2015:
--> India's Leander Paes and Switzerland's Martina Hingis defeated Alexander Peya of Austria and Timea Babos of Hungary 6-1, 6-1 to win the Wimbledon mixed doubles title at The 2015 All England Lawn Tennis Club on 12 July 2015.
--> The win gave Paes his 16th Grand Slam trophy and Hingis her second title at Wimbledon in two days, having won the women's doubles title with India's Sania Mirza on 11 July 2015.
--> It was Paes' eighth mixed doubles title and second with Hingis.
--> They won the Australian Open earlier this year. 42-year-old Paes also has eight men's doubles crowns in his Grand Slam collection.
--> Sumit Nagal won the junior boys' doubles trophy with Vietnam's Nam Hoang Ly.

2) Djokovic beats Federer to win his third Wimbledon title:
--> Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer for the second successive year in the Wimbledon final to capture his third title at the All England Club with a 7-6(1) 6-7(10) 6-4 6-3 win on 12 July 2015.
--> The Serbian world number one became the first man since 2007 to retain the Wimbledon men's title and in the process took his grand slam tally to nine.

3) Sunil Chhetri is highest paid player in ISL Auction 2015:
--> India national football captain Sunil Chhetri was the biggest earner at the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL) auction in Mumbai on 11 July 2015.
--> He was selected by Mumbai City FC for Rs 1.20 crore.
--> Chhetri's team-mate at Bengaluru FC, central midfielder Eugeneson Lyngdoh, was purchased by Pune FC for 1.05 crore from a base price of Rs 27 lakh.
--> A total of Rs 7.22 crore was spent on the ten players at the auction, with FC Goa and Kerala Blasters the only teams not to buy any player.

4) Indian-American Astronaut Sunita Williams Selected in NASA's First Commercial Crew:
--> Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams is among four astronauts who have been selected by NASA for commercial flights to the International Space Station (ISS) from US soil.
--> They will work closely with company-led teams to understand their designs and operations as they finalise their Boeing CST-100 and SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft and operational strategies.

5) ‘Buddha In A Traffic Jam’ wins best original screenplay award at the Madrid Film Festival:
--> ‘Buddha In A Traffic Jam’ film has won the best original screenplay in a Foreign Language award at the Madrid International Film Festival.
--> The film is a political satire directed by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri.
--> It stars Arunoday Singh and Mahi Gill in a lead role along with Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and introduces Anchal Dwivedi.

6) Police verification for passports to go online:
--> Police verification for issue/renewal of passports will soon be an online affair, allowing its timeframe to be cut from the existing 20 days to less than a week.
--> The home ministry is set to allow all SP-level police officers access to databases such as National Population Register (NPR), Aadhaar and Electoral Photo I-Card via the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) to enable online verification of identity, address and criminal record, if any, of the passport applicant.
--> Though the online check, for now, will be backed up with the usual physical verification by the local police, the ultimate aim is to fully eliminate the need for a doorstep check for all categories of passports.

7) Website of Isro's commercial arm Antrix hacked:
--> Two days after proving its commercial satellite launch capabilities, the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) on 12 July 2015 found the website of its commercial arm, Antrix, defaced by hackers.
--> The home page of the Antrix website was replaced with parts of an article talking about 300 kids from Cape Town getting American Major League jerseys at cheap prices from China.
--> By evening, the homepage was restored.
