1) BRICS bank began operations in China:
--> New Development Bank (NDB) floated by the BRICS nations, including India, to step up infrastructure funding in the emerging economies formally started its operations at its headquarters in Shanghai, China on 21 July 2015.
--> The bank is to start out with a capital of $50bn (£32bn) though the amount is to be doubled in the coming years.
--> The banks is expected to issue its first loans early next year.
--> Chinese Finance Minister Lou Jiwei, Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong and the bank’s President K V Kamath attended the opening ceremony held in a hotel in Shanghai.
--> The bank is seen as an alternative to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund and will lend money to BRICS nation to help finance infrastructure projects.

2) CCEA extended CCTNS deadline to March 2017:
--> The deadline for implementation of an ambitious online system, which will help in police verification for issuing passport, among others, was on 21 July 2015 extended till  March 2017 by the government.
--> Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the proposal of the Union Home Ministry to extend the deadline for implementation of Crime and Criminals Tracking network and Systems (CCTNS) project.

3) Union Government launched Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan:
--> Union Government has launched a national campaign Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan in a bid to create awareness and capacity building on Safe and Hygienic food for all.
--> It was launched by Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan in New Delhi.

4) Naomi Klein won 2015 American Book Award:
--> Noted Canadian author Naomi Klein has won the 36th edition of American Book Award 2015.
--> She has won this award for her environmental work This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate published in 2014.

5) ISRO successfully test-fired GSLV-Mark III rocket engine:
--> ISRO has successfully test-fired Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark III project’s high-thrust cryogenic rocket engine.
--> It is India’s first indigenously designed and developed high-thrust cryogenic rocket engine capable of generating a nominal thrust of 19 tonnes.

6) Narendra Modi launched National Career Counselling Portal:
--> Narendra Modi launched India's biggest job portal called National Career Counselling Portal for the job seekers.
--> It has been done as a part of an effort to modernise all government-run employment centres.
--> Initiated by the Union Government, the project aspires to become one stop solution for the job seekers and providers.
--> The portal has been set up under the National Career Service (NCS) project.

7) Amelie Mauresmo inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame:
--> France`s tennis legend Amelie Mauresmo was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
--> She is a two-time Grand Slam winner viz. Australian Open (2006) and Wimbledon (2006).
--> She is also former world number one and had spent a total of 39 weeks atop in the rankings in 2004 and 2006.

8) Bhanu Pratap Sharma given additional charge as FSSAI chairperson:
--> Health and Family Welfare Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma was given additional charge of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI), Chairperson, for three months.

9) Sangram Singh becomes the first Indian to win WWP Heavyweight Championship:
--> Indian wrestler, Sangram Singh won the World Wrestling Professionals (WWP) Commonwealth Wrestling Heavyweight Championship on July 18.
--> The championship was held at Nelson Mandela Bay in Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
