1) AFSPA withdrawn from Tripura after 18 years:
--> The Tripura government on 27 May 2015 lifted the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, (AFSPA) from the state with immediate effect, chief minister Manik Sarkar announced.
--> Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) was in effect for the last 18 years to curb insurgency.
--> According to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar this decision was taken in the meeting of the council of ministers
--> The Act was promulgated in the state in February 16, 1997 due to relentless violence and bloodshed.

2) Trevor Bayliss appointed England cricket team's head coach:
--> Australian Trevor Bayliss has been appointed as the new head coach of England, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on 26 May 2015.
--> Trevor Bayliss led Sri Lanka from 2007-2011 and took temporary charge of Australia  for their Twenty20 series in South Africa in 2014.
--> He has also coached Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

3) PM to visit Bangladesh from June 6:
--> Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Bangladesh beginning 6th of June with an aim to inject new momentum in the bilateral relationship by enhancing cooperation in connectivity, economic and other areas.

4) Jawaharlal Nehru remembered on 51st death anniversary:
--> The nation on 27 May 2015 remembered Jawaharlal Nehru on his 51st death anniversary with President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders paying tributes to the country's first Prime Minister.
--> Born on November 14, 1889, Nehru was one of the prominent nationalist leaders of the freedom struggle in the 20th century and the central figure of independent India as its first Prime Minister till his demise on May 27, 1964.

5) Manabi Bandhopadhyay set to become India's first transgender college principal:
--> Manabi Bandopadhyay is all set to become India's first transgender college principal.
--> Manabi, currently works as an associate professor in Bengali at Vivekananda Satobarshiki Mahavidyalaya in West Bengal.
--> She is going to take charge as the principal of Krishnanagar Women's College in West Bengal on June 9.

6) Punjab gets WHO award for campaign against tobacco:
--> World Health Organization (WHO) on 27 May 2015 announced it was honouring Punjab for its exemplary campaign against tobacco.
--> The WHO lauded the state's efforts for taking measures to curb the usage of tobacco in any form and launching a sustained campaign to educate the masses besides taking punitive measures to punish offenders.
--> The award would be given on May 31, the day observed as 'World No Tobacco Day'.
